Building Confidence Through Boudoir Photography | Meet Billie of Boudoir by Billie

There are certain people who naturally become anchors within a community, and Billie is one of those humans for Comet Collective. As the founder of Gemini Confidence Collective and Boudoir by Billie, she has not only opened her space for our monthly Conscious Collaborations gatherings over the past year, but has also been a steady, supportive presence in the growth of this community.

Billie’s work is rooted in helping people reconnect with themselves through confidence, embodiment, and self-acceptance. Last year she hosted Aligned Portraits for Comet Collective, an experience where participants were invited to connect with their essence and be seen through a lens of warmth, truth, and intention. It was a reflection of the kind of space Billie creates in all that she does: one that feels safe, real, and deeply affirming.

We’re so grateful for the care, energy, and heart she brings into this community. In this Q+A, Billie shares more about her work, who she’s here to support, and the deeper intention behind the spaces she creates.

“The space I offer is not just about confidence, it is about self trust, self compassion, connection, and remembering who they are underneath everything they have been told to be.”

What is the work you feel most called to offer right now, and what drew you to it?

Right now, I feel deeply called to create space for people to come back home to themselves. Through boudoir, I am not just taking photos; I am holding space for softness, truth, and reclamation. Over time, this work has expanded beyond the camera into community-based experiences like retreats, confidence coaching, and journal circles where people can be held, seen, and supported together. It rooted itself when I saw how powerful it is for someone to be witnessed without judgment. That moment when someone realizes they are allowed to take up space, to feel beautiful, to be fully themselves is what continues to call me back.

Who do you feel most aligned to support, and what are they currently navigating or seeking?

I feel most aligned with people who are in a season of becoming, whether that is after heartbreak, big life transitions, identity shifts, or the quiet realization that they have been disconnected from themselves for a while. They are often seeking confidence, but deeper than that, they are seeking permission to soften, to exist in their body without criticism, and to feel worthy without needing to change. Many are also craving community, a place where they can feel less alone in what they are navigating.

How do you support people through that? What does your work actually look or feel like in practice?

I am here to offer a space that loudly encourages all of this. It is a very intentional, guided experience whether in a one-on-one session or within a group space. I hold space gently, and meet people exactly where they are. In boudoir sessions, there is grounding, encouragement, and intuitive direction so no one ever feels like they have to know what to do. In my retreats and events, that support expands into shared experiences like guided journaling, confidence coaching, and open conversations that allow people to be witnessed by others as well. It feels calm, safe, and a little bit magical. Often it becomes less about what we are doing and more about what is being felt and released.

What shifts or transformations have you witnessed in the people you work with?

For over 10 years, I have seen people walk in feeling nervous, self-critical, and disconnected, and leave standing taller, softer, and more present in themselves. I have watched people open up in group spaces, realizing they are not alone, and finding comfort in being seen by others who truly understand. There is often a moment where something shifts, where they see themselves differently or maybe for the first time without the harsh lens they are used to. It's almost like watching a flower bloom for the very first time and it's SO beautiful to witness. The space I offer is not just about confidence, it is about self trust, self compassion, connection, and remembering who they are underneath everything they have been told to be.

“This work is not waiting for a polished version of you.
It is here for you as you are right now.”

What makes your approach or perspective unique?

I approach my work without the need for perfection. It is not about creating a version of you that fits a standard, it's all about honoring what is already there - even if it feels like a "flaw". My work is deeply intuitive, body positive, and rooted in emotional safety of everyone (including myself!) What makes it unique is the blend of intimate one-on-one experiences with community centered spaces, allowing people to explore themselves both privately and collectively. The experience matters just as much as the final images and I am honored to help guide such amazing humans into their blooming moment.

What is something you wish more people understood about this kind of work?

You do not have to shrink, fix, or have it all figured out to be here. You can come exactly as you are, in the middle of everything you are moving through. In the uncertainty, in the healing, in the parts that still feel tender or unfamiliar.

This work is not waiting for a polished version of you. It is here for you as you are right now. The version of you that is learning, unlearning, growing, and remembering. The one that might be carrying a lot, questioning a lot, and still showing up anyway.

I hold space for you gently, without expectation. A place where you can soften, and be supported without needing to prove anything. This can be a moment to reconnect with yourself, to feel seen, and to be reminded that you are allowed to take up space just as you are. You are allowed to receive care in the middle of becoming. You are allowed to not have it all figured out and still step into something that supports you. You are allowed to be seen here.

What does your life look like outside of your work? What lights you up lately?

Outside of work, I am drawn to slow, grounding moments. Traveling is an important thing to me. Also, time with my partner, my cats, creating, being in cozy and intentional spaces, and finding small ways to reconnect with myself. Lately, I have been leaning into rest, creating without pressure, and building community in ways that feel real and supportive. I feel especially lit up by bringing people together and watching connections form in such genuine, meaningful ways.

Where can people connect with you or experience your work right now?

You can connect with me through my website as well as my studio, Boudoir by Billie, here in Columbia, Missouri, or on Instagram where I share both my work and the heart behind it. I also host retreats, events, and community gatherings throughout the year for those who want to experience this work in a more collective and immersive way. I am always open to conversation, whether you are ready to book or simply feeling curious about stepping into this space. You may also reach out at Billie@BoudoirbyBillie.com
